The Infinity Megasite Development and Certification

February 2, 2017

Columbus, Mississippi – The Mississippi Economic Development Council (MEDC) announced that The Infinity Megasite Development and Certification won the 2016 Community Economic Development Award (CEDA) on February 2, 2017.

The CEDA program is a “Best Practices” program intended to recognize exceptional contributions of communities in the State of Mississippi for the following efforts: business retention & expansion, business recruitment, community development and community involvement.

In the fall of 2016, the Golden Triangle Development LINK announced that a third megasite had been developed via the Tennessee Valley Authority's megasite development program and certified by McCallum-Sweeney, a national leader in site selection.

A community that thrives on constantly improving its recruitment chances, Lowndes County was invited by TVA in the fall of 2015 to participate in the megasite program. The GTR LINK immediately mobilized opportunity to broaden its region's available product.

The Infinity Megasite is located west of the Golden Triangle Regional Airport and is part of the Golden Triangle Industrial Aerospace Park.

Highlights of 1,144 acre site’s infrastructure include access to TVA power via 3 – 161 KV transmission lines, 2 MGD elevated storage and 7.2 MGD pumping capacity via a 16” looped line. Waste water treatment allots a 1.2 million gallons a day capacity and expandable natural gas service of 50,000 MCF is on site. A multi-modal site, Infinity is surrounded by roads, adjacent to US Highways 82 and 45, 15 miles from the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway and houses rail access on its southern edge.

The Infinity Megasite is 100 percent owned by the community through the Lowndes County Industrial Development Authority. Through investment of residual tax monies from previous industrial developments, the county has continued to develop the region's product at no cost to community members.
