Monroe County native to take chamber’s executive director position

May 31, 2017 - Monroe County chamber of Commerce

Chelsea Thompson Baulch, PCED, has been named Executive Director of the Monroe County Chamber of Commerce. She will be responsible for leading economic and community development efforts in Monroe County.

Prior to her appointment, Baulch served as Project Manager for the Golden Triangle Development LINK, having joined the organization in 2012. In this capacity, she conducted research for potential development leads, crafted RFIs for prospective locations, maintained databases for information and property and produced marketing and recruitment materials. In previous positions with the GTR LINK, Baulch focused on constituent relations, organization and planning.

“The Chamber has various new economic projects on the drawing board and I feel Chelsea has the right skills and background to carry these projects forward. She already has strong existing connections with key economic allies, including Mississippi Development Authority (MDA), Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), North Mississippi Industrial Development Association (NMIDA), as well as many others,” stated Jack Campbell, Chairman of the Chamber’s Board of Directors.

The Hamilton native received her Professional Community and Economic Development certification through the Community Development Council in 2016. Baulch received her bachelor of arts in communication with a public relations emphasis from Mississippi State University in 2011.

Baulch expressed optimism about her new post. “I am honored to take the knowledge and experience I’ve gained to work with our community to move Monroe County forward,” she said.

She will begin her official duties on June 12.
